Day 20 - Trip 1

First, last night I exchanged the not-cucumber Dove bodywash for the cucumber Dove bodywash. It was easier than I thought it would be, so yay!

Now onto today:

Bought:
1 double Sunday paper - $2.50
1 24-pack of bottled water - $2.99
1 Physician's Formula mascara - $7.99

Used $1/bottled water coupon from scanner (today the scanner gave me nothing on either card!), $1/Physician's Formula, $9.99 in ECBs, $1.55 in cash (6 cents tax)

Got back $7.99. Small loss, but the July deals don't look very exciting so far. I didn't max out any June deals except the bandaids, but I came close. I am not sure if I'll bother getting another Brut or another Smart Rinse before Tuesday.

I am new to CVS. What is the scanner you are talking about?
Thanks!

CVS is slowly rolling out these price checkers/card scanners - in my area most stores now have them. You may have seen something like it in Target - you can scan any item and get the price. You can also scan your Extracare card and most times some coupons will pop out!

what is a double paper? I have heard others mention this, but have never heard of it before.

Here in Georgia, the AJC publishes an early edition of the Sunday paper that comes out on Saturday. On Sunday, they bundle that early edition with the regular edition and sell it for $2.50 (the regular edition alone is $2). And they pretty much openly advertise it as for the coupons - "Double the savings" is plastered all over it. It's a good deal for them - they still get to sell the outdated edition - and for me - 50 cents more for twice the coupons! I don't know if other cities do it, but I suspect it's not a unique practice.
