CVS - My Other Card 2/15/09

I went back to CVS with my other card and bought:
2 Colgate toothpastes $5.98
1 pocket tissues - 50 cents

I gave my bucks first again (I was a penny short...) and then two 75 cent/Colgate coupons. Paid 9 cents, got back $5.98.

And the scanner gave me $10 ECBs from a survey I did a few weeks ago (yay) plus a coupon for a free 3-pack of antacids. I didn't have time to look around for that, but I will probably get it next weekend or something. This card also now has a $25-gift-card-with -prescription coupon - sadly, a week too late for me to use it. It expires in April though, so maybe I'll have an opportunity - I kind of hope not though, if you know what I'm saying!

CVS - My Other Card

I don't love juggling two cards most of the time, but when there are great deals on things I want/need/use, then it's OK. But I don't obsessively roll ECBs on my other card. That said, I had $14 expiring this week. I walked to the local CVS planning on getting more L'Oreal and some of the energy drink stuff (I don't use it but I have friends who will). But of course they were entirely out of the L'Oreal. And the Ear Rinse (plan B). So I grabbed the aspirin, the energy drink (they had TONS AND TONS of this, ha!) and then wandered the aisles trying to figure out what to do. Then I saw that Organix fancy hair product had a "try me free" tag on it, and it was almost exactly the amount I needed to spend. I like the idea of trying to turn ECBs into real cash, so I got that. I threw in a Buddies soap because I didn't want to relive the "I can't figure out how to adjust down your bucks" situation and I had a coupon, so why not. I paid 24 cents for all that.

Then my receipt gave me one of the Excedrin CRTs (I'd forgotten about the Excedrin deal, to be honest. If I'd remembered I might have used that in the above situation somehow.) so I went back and got the Excedrin and a travel pack of cough drops, used the $1.99 from the aspirin plus the CRT, paid zero, and got back $2.49.

So my other card has $7.48 in ECBs on it now. Not enough to use to get more L'Oreal with a low enough OOP to make it worth it if I managed to get to another store. *sigh* Oh well. :)

My Other Card Again

I rolled an $11.98 ECB (and 2 pennies) into two boxes of Soy Joy bars and a $12 ECB.

I plan on using this awesome deal to roll some more ECBs on both cards.

I actually like these! Go figure!

My Other Card

I had a prescription to fill (sadly, no coupon for it - and it's not a transfer or I would've used a Rite Aid or Walgreens printable...) so I went to CVS tonight. Since I was there, I bought 1 Garnier 2 in 1 and then noticed that they still had Christmas clearance for 75% off. I found the one-handed Scotch pop up tape thing for 49 cents, grabbed 3 refills for 49 cents each. Used the $1 Garnier coupon and a $3.99 ECB adjusted down to $3.95 (confused the cashier briefly). Paid 7 cents, got back $2. Yay!

Also I scoped out the SoyJoy boxes. I won't be maxing out 10 on each card - I just don't need that much STUFF - but they will help me roll an $11.98 on this card and another big one on my other card.

Day 47 - Trip 2 - My Other Card

Again with the random dollar - though this time I managed to hand over the ECB...

2 Maybelline lipsticks (neither in my preferred color but I think these will work) - $6.69 for both due to BOGO
1 Complete - $8.99
1 Powerade - $1.59
1 Pert - $2.50
2 travel baby wipe packs - $1.98

Used $2/Complete, $2/Pert, 2x $4/Maybelline (OVERAGE!). I thought I was under $7.99. But then my total was more than that, so I handed over an $8.99. Still owed over $1 so I handed over the $1 ECB. But then my total was negative 24 cents plus tax, so I wound up paying only 50 cents. I'm still kind of confused as to how all this math played out but typing it out, it...sort of makes some sort of sense. So I paid 50 cents tax and got back an $8.99 and a $1.59, so I made a profit when all was said and done. Weird.

My Rolaids coupons, for whatever it's worth, didn't match the products on the shelves. Now I'm not sure if they matched this morning either and the register just accepted them or if I had a different coupon or what. Who knows.

Anyway, in the end I rolled a bunch of stuff this week and feel good about getting more Complete later in the month. I have 2 coupons left and may use my other household computers to get more...heh.

My Other Card - 11/2

The store was out of the Crest, and that's what any scenarios I had revolved around, so I just got the paper. I used my other card's ECB - $1.98 - to get the paper for 52 cents. Why my other card? Well, the scanner was out of paper, and I knew that I was getting a $10 ECB for doing a survey! And I did - awesome. And I just did *another* survey on this card for $2 ECBs more! Yay.

I still am considering going back later in the week with either card to get one Crest, two Pert Pluses, and a 50 cent filler - use a $4 ECB, get back $3.49. Maybe.

And I had some candy in my basket - half price from Halloween - but the price still wasn't THAT great (I've gotten cheaper M&Ms with coupons) so I put it back. (This is also because yesterday I went to Target and pillaged the Halloween clearance...)

Also trying to figure out if Kroger deals are worthwhile this week. There are some inexpensive things, but do I *need* them? That's a big part of it. Stay tuned!

My Other Card - CVS 10/20/08

With such a great week for moneymaking, I decided to go back and roll up my other card's ECBs.

I started with $8.98 in ECBs.

Transaction 1:

1 JFM haircolor - $7.99
1 Gum toothbrushes - $3.99

-$2/JFM, -$.75/toothbrushes, -$8.98 ECBs. Paid 46 cents (21 cents tax). Got back $11.98. Up $3!

I was trying to decide if I was done or not when the register spat out a CRT for $2 off any Colgate toothbrush. Fabulous!

Transaction 2:

2 pumpkin pails - $1.98 (I would've preferred the glow sticks but the store was out)
1 Powerade - $1.69*
1 Colgate toothbrush - $2.99

-$2 CRT, $3.99 ECBs. Paid 71 cents (4 cents tax). Got back $5.67. *I could've gotten the Brach's candy for a lower OOP with ECBs back, but we'll actually drink the Powerade vs. not eating the candy.

So I end with $13.66 on this card - up nearly $5 from when I started!

I also noticed that the store has the Excedrin in stock, so I may go back later in the week with my experiment card (the one with the CRT) and try to finagle something with the Excedrin and...maybe the vitamin D? Not sure. They're out of the WellPatches - shocker!

...My other card...

I liked this deal, so I'm sharing it here.

I started out with $11.97 in ECBs (one big one).

I bought 2 lipsticks, a box of Alavert (the bonus box with 18 pills), and a Speed Stick deodorant.

I used $1 off the Speed Stick, 2 $2 off the lipstick coupons, and $4 off the Alavert. Those plus the $11.97 = 64 cents out of pocket (63 cents of which was sales tax) and $13.99 back in ECBs, broken up into a $6, a $4, and a $3.99.

THEN I went back and got a tube of fancy Skin Effects face scrub and 2 bottles of dishwashing liquid. I used the CVS $2 off Skin Effects coupon (beware - this has been reported to ADD $2 to your total rather than take it off, and that's what happened to me but luckily the cashier and I both caught it and she fixed it - seems like faulty programming to me and it's a PAIN) and 2 25 cents off the dishwashing liquid coupons. I handed over the $6 in ECBs and 11 cents. Got back $5 in ECBs.

Net gain in ECBs, $1-ish, plus all that stuff for free! My YTD savings on that card = $835.96, and I've spent approx. $40 out of pocket to get there. (My spreadsheet, linked on the right, isn't complete because I can't find the receipts for the first few trips of the year.)

Back to the experiment!
